HAD POSTED A FEW WEEKS AGO
ASKING THE QUESTION,
SHOULD I KEEP MY OLD
3 MIRROR MEDICINE CABINET?
OR IS THAT TO
OLD FASHIONED, SHOULD
I REPLACE IT WITH A PLAIN MIRROR
IN MY BATHROOM?

EVERYONE SAID GET RID
OF IT AND JUST USE A MIRROR..
WELL I COULDN'T
RESIST A CHALLENGE.

I LIKE BEING ABLE TO STORE MY
TOOTHBRUSH AND COSMETIC'S
ETC... IN A EASY TO REACH
PLACE. SO I FIGURED, WHAT DO
I HAVE TO LOSE...

THIS IS THE PIECE IN
QUESTION...
BEFORE...

PRETTY GENERIC LOOKING!

SO HERE IT IS AND I HOPE
YOU LIKE MY DECISION TO
KEEP IT.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The ‘Morrisons Value’ line has been renamed ‘M Savers’ to reflect its consumer benefit. The new designs confidently express the Morrisons brand with an iconic charcoal grey roundel bearing the letter M in white.  Using just two colours, the core logo is accompanied by hand-crafted product illustrations of product silhouettes and shapes. Backgrounds are all white but the illustrations are in a range of bright primary colours. Within the illustrations, simple product descriptors are written in a bespoke type-face created by senior Coley Porter Bell designer Craig Barnes. Read more about the redesign here.

Designed by Patrick Morris while he was a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, in London, the Sky Planter was originally produced by his New Zealand-based company, Boskke, out of porcelain, but now they’re available in recycled plastic.

A porous reservoir--refillable through a hole at the top--delivers just the right amount of water through diffusion. That means that most of the water reaches the plant roots directly, reducing evaporation and conserving water.  Plants that adapt exceptionally well to the system, including geraniums, orchids, and a variety of herbs. Available online here.

One of my favourite studios, Stockholm Design Lab gives the brand ID of a Swedish pharmacy chain a big old happy pill. Using bright colours and bold anatomical illustrations as opposed to the predictive antiseptic clinical look. Instead, the Swedish pharmacy chain Vårdapoteket uses vivid jewel colors and cartoonish illustrations of the human body to create a lively look for the various bags, promotional signage, information leaflets, and wallpaper at its 24 stores.

Vårdapoteket is unique among pharmacies in that it’s located solely in hospitals and care settings and doubles as a grocery store. The pop of colour in an otherwise barren and uninspiring environment (hospitals) might be just what the doctor ordered for a sick person. Research has shown that positive environmental factors can reduce patients’ anxiety and even contribute to their overall well-being. SDL’s design, then, offers a small glimpse of cheer in an all-too-often stressful setting.

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

So glad you all can join me!  This week we will be wishing a fond farewell to the Fan Favorite category.  Not as many people participate in it as I hoped, and so I've decided that this will be it's swan song.

And so the final Frugal Friday Fan Favorite is this set of beautiful twin beds posted by Fab Rehab Creations.  The makeover is simply

Chris and I have been in our home for a little over two years. It seems like every year we are redoing the flower bed and we don't know what to do with it. This year was it!  We decided to redo it once and for all. We fixed it up the correct way so we wouldn't have to deal with it year after year.

This was the before while we were ripping up the flower bed....

We decided to purchase stone bricks to create a raised flower bed.
We added bushes in the back and will plant flowers next year.
We planted two pencil bushes, I love these!
Our next project is cleaning out the garage and to create more room we decided to put the trash can outside. We put up a small fence barrier to hide the trash can from the road and add more curb appeal.
The total project cost around $300, but totally worth it! Next year all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the front yard!

Thanks for stopping by, we couldn't be happier with the final result. :)

Hey! It's been a while since I blogged last. I just wanted to check in and share with you these amazing, chippy exterior doors that we found today.

The pair of doors are from the mid 1800's and have so much character. They may possibly be going in our new house for our exterior back doors that lead to the back porch or I may even take the glass out and replace them with mirrors (like I did here) for decorative pieces in our house. Either way they will be used somewhere in the new house. I want to incorporate old and new elements throughout the house and these will definitely make a statement.

I love all the detailed molding and the chippy, distressed look of these. Ahh... I can already imagine what they will look like in the house.

Thanks for stopping by!

Marbelous Wood challenges the way we use wood in our built environment, where function and aesthetics work together in new ways.

Pernille Snedker Hansen has repurposed an old marbling technique giving wood a supernatural, organic, colorful and vibrant pattern.  The outcome is a beautiful coloured marble pattern which loosely references a tree's natural growth rings.

My three boys share a bedroom.  It has worked so far, but now that my oldest has started Jr. High school, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for him to share with his two little brothers.  The poor kid really needs a space of his own.  So what's a mom to do?  In this case, I am considering giving up my loft office space and turning it into a bedroom for Boy #1.  I'm campaigning for
