I have some really great ladies guest posting today.  I first heard of their blog via Ucreate when they shared their Jersey Bracelets.  You may remember my post where I made one!  They have such a fun blog! Here they are!

We are jujuB! Just two friends and neighbors who LOVE to craft. Okay, we don't just love to craft, we are kind of obsessed with it. We get together just to craft at least once a week. Truthfully, since we started jujuB we do it way more than that, but I don't want to sound so obsessed that you think we are crazy. :) Ok, I, Becky, am a little crazy, and Juliana is what keeps us all together. That's why we are such a great team! Check out our blog at jujuBstash.blogspot.com to see what we are up to--and we are always up to something!

We are so excited to share some of our awesome fall projects with you.

We also have lots of fun items available in our Etsy shop. Come shop for Christmas presents and check back to see our Christmas collection debuting soon!!!!

They have lots of great projects, so go visit their blog and look around!

I have a fabulous guest blogger today, sharing a really fun activity for kids.  The homemade slime looks like so much fun to make, and super duper fun to play with!  I will let Rach take it from here:

Hi! I'm Rach H blogging at Family Ever After, and I'm so happy to share this here at My Lil Pumpkin Patch!

Are your kids always on the lookout for a new craft to do at home? Well, here's a surprisingly easy project to do with your kiddos, and its cheap and easy! This slime has provided my kids with hours of fun! It was fun to do, especially around Halloween time. We made it about a week ago, and its still moist and perfect for them to play with. It was fun having a science experiment going on in our kitchen.

Here's how to make Homemade Slime:

you'll need-
2 tsp Borax
2 cups water
1 cup glue (about 2 bottles)
1 cup water
food coloring

directions-
Mix the borax and water in a bowl.
Mix the glue, water and food coloring in a separate bowl.
Now mix the ingredients of both bowls together.
That's it!
Store in a ziploc bag.

notes-
*I found Borax in the laundry aisle at Target. It was only $3. We now have enough to last for a lifetime of homemade slime!
*If you use the transparent glue, your slime will turn out shiny. I'm trying this next time!
*Make sure your kids know that this is not edible!!!
*Here's a link to the video I watched to learn how to make this:

I told the kids it was troll bogies (Harry Potter, anyone?) They thought it was hilarious!

Thanks so much Rach!  Doesn't it look like so much fun?!  Go check out her blog for more fun ideas!

Today, we have the privilege of having a special guest post with a delicious recipe. (And for some reason, there are huge spaces between the bullets...sorry.  I have edited it, but blogger apparently has a mind of its own today.  If you know how to fix it, please help! UPDATE: An awesome reader told me to check the HTML and I did, and had to delete a few things, and it is more normal now...yay!) :)  I will let Heather take it from here:

Hey ya'll! This is Heather from the blog Banana Pudding! I am a crafty college student from Tennessee and I am so thankful that Stephanie decided to feature me today. I have some great recipes and tutorials over at my blog, so please come by for a visit! I thought I would share with you today my mini apple pie recipe. These are so yummy and perfect for this time of year! I promise they are easy as pie and so delicious!

Here is the recipe, and you can find the original post here!

Ingredients:

  • 6 apples peeled cored and chopped

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 4 tbsp sugar set aside 2 tbsp for topping

  • 2 3/4 tsp cinnamon set aside 3/4 tsp for topping

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 pkg of refrigerated rolled pie crust

  • 1/2 stick of butter melted

  • Parchment paper

  • Cookie sheet oven safe

    Directions

  • Mix together 2 tbsp of sugar and 3/4 tbsp of cinnamon and put aside.

  • Put chopped apples and water in a large pot and boil at medium heat for about 15 minutes.

  • Stir in honey, cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar.

  • Then turn down to low and simmer for about 30 minutes, until apples are tender but still have some of their shape.

  • Now stir in cornstarch to get filling to desired thickness.

  • Preheat oven to 425 Degrees F.

  • Roll out pie crust dough and cut into 4 triangles. There are 2 rolls in the box, so this will make a    total of 8 triangles.

  • Place them on parchment paper on a oven safe cookie sheet.

  • Add a spoonful of filling onto the dough triangles.

  • Bring up the ends and pinch them together, to make sort of an apple pouch.

  • Brush the tops of the pies with melted butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  • Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Yield: serves 8

    Notes:

-You can use any type of refrigerated dough you like.

-You can mix equal parts powdered sugar and water and drizzle over the top for a nice glaze.

-The measurements are going to be based on the sweetness of your apples and the size of your batch.

Thanks so much again for having me! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

And make sure to stop by my blog and check out more yummy recipes, these crafty posts below, and so much more! :)

Yum!  Those look delicious!  Make sure to check out Heather's blog!  She has some really cute ideas!

So, I was planning on putting up a post with a link over to Housewife Eclectic yesterday, since I guest posted there, but this past week has been so crazy!

Last week I borrowed my mother-in-law's steam cleaner and shampooed all of our carpets.  And then I was cleaning some cars that we are selling, and we took a quick trip to Utah, so I am worn out!  I think I used up most of my motivation last week...but it is slowly building back this week! :)

Monday and Tuesday, I was working on some homemade cards that I sell at a local floral shop.  I will show you them soon...probably next Monday.  And, if you want to buy some, I have some for sale in my shop, and I will be adding more shortly.

Anyway, enough with my pity party...hope you all had a great weekend!

Check out my guest post over at Housewife Eclectic!  She is actually doing a month of pumpkins, so you can get lots of great ideas!

I am blog swapping with Kim over at The Sasse Life.  I posted a project at her site yesterday, and she is sharing a project here today.  I think you are going to love it!

Hi everyone!  Stephanie and I have decided to do a little blog swapping.  Let me introduce myself to all of you pumpkin heads.  My name is Kim and I'm bit have an addiction problem with anything DIY.  I usually check Craiglist daily for anything that needs some TLC.  That is how I came across this lovely little end table.

Today is a bit busy, because I am guesting over at DIY Kinda Girl (come see how to make this cute skirt) AND I have a guest poster on my blog today!  ALSO, come back FRIDAY to see the other cute little things I made to go along with this skirt!  So fun!

Today we get to hear from Christina Johnson.  She has written an article on tasteful Halloween Decor.  I found it to be very helpful and I figured all of my readers would too!   And, if you haven't already, go ahead and follow me on Facebook and/or Twitter to get the latest updates and join in some conversations!

Don't Scare the Trick or Treaters Away?
    By: Christina Johnson

With fall just around the corner, so is sweet fun of Halloween. Just as everyone likes to dress up for the holiday, feel free to dress up your house too! Halloween decorations don't have to be all orange, black and covered in cotton spider webs—with a little thought and creativity, you can transform your home or Manhattan rental into a festive and tasteful Halloween-ready home.

Follow these simple tips to avoid your house looking frightful for all the wrong reasons:

Simplify: While it might be tempting to stroll down the Halloween aisles and pick up anything with an orange or black color, show some restraint. Focus on a few, key pieces within a theme for a classic, lasting look.

Don't Be Too Scary: Halloween is about monsters and costumes yes, but you don't have to have every square inch of your yard covered in Halloween paraphilia; fake cemetery, plastic spiders, ubiquitous cobwebs, and inflatables. Try not to be that house. Instead, go for a few items that will make a big impact. A big fall wreath on the door will last through to Thanksgiving. A hay bale and a couple of well-placed jack-o-lanterns will jazz up any entryway. Lanterns up the steps provide much-needed lighting for little trick-or-treaters, and look festive, as well.

Themes: Focus in on one major look, and do it well. Think about a timeless black and white theme; black and white Halloween dishes, black cauldrons filled with Spanish moss and white-painted pumpkins. Take a white plate and add black Halloween decals, then add it to a collection of black and white patterned dishes for a classy look. A fall cornucopia theme is another option. Place colorful gourds of varying sizes in a glass urn for a fabulous centerpiece. For a little Halloween bling, paint pumpkins, leaves, and sticks gold. A benefit of this look is that it will last all autumn long.

Keep it in the Group: Within the chosen theme, group items together. Place a group of ceramic jack-o-lanterns together on the fireplace. Fill a unique grouping of different sized glass containers with candy corn, caramel popcorn, and licorice. With the black and white theme, use black and white candies. Stack apple crates filled with pumpkins for a holiday display where some height is needed.

Tasteful Halloween decor makes a house inviting to guests, looks festive and avoids the cheap or kitschy look that sometimes goes with the holiday.

Thanks so much, Christina!  Doesn't she have such great tips!

Shellie and Ashlie of The House Undone, are guest posting here today.  Shellie sent me a beautiful room redo, and I figured you would LOVE it, because I do!  I will let Shellie take it from here:

I sprung this project on my husband about a week in advance of getting started.  This nearly caused a divorce because I told him that we could handle it without him and he wouldn’t have to do any of the work.  Well, needless to say we did end up needing his help. He was not a happy camper, but in the end, he absolutely loves our new beautiful bedroom.

As you can see, the walls were a dull beige color and everything was dark from the furniture, curtains, and bedding.  The winter scene outside the windows certainly didn’t help!  Because the house is so old, there was a lot of patching to do on the walls and since the walls are made of plaster, I recommend using Behr’s Ultra Primer and Paint in One.  It worked great for coverage and imperfections on the walls.

We started with giving the whole room a fresh coat of paint and using an accent color on a couple of the walls.  As you can see, we tore the fan light apart and added a ceiling molding to give the lamp added appeal.  The light was originally all brown with a tan light fixture.  We used spray paint and Martha Stewart’s metallic paint to give it a new face lift.

Next, we used a stencil and the same Martha Stewart’s metallic paint to stencil the walls using a dauber brush.  Tip: You will want to wipe off the excess paint on a paper towel to prevent it from running underneath your stencil.  The stencil was really easy to use since it came with instructions, so I would say we did quite well for being our first time.

Pretty soon you have a completed wall that looks like a work of art.  It literally only took us one day to complete!

After all the painting and stenciling was complete, it was time for the fun stuff!  We started with buying the bedding, fabric for pillows and accessories to give the room a final touch.

    Happily Ever After!

Remember the fan light?  Look how gorgeous it looks now; it’s like a brand new light for very little cost.  Also the rectangle mirror on the wall was a black frame, so we painted it with silver spray paint to make it pop out from the dark wall.  The black frames on the wall were in my garage tucked away with pictures of my kids when they were little.  We took some of the same fabric we bought for the pillows and used it for the backing of the pictures, and then we used Ashlie’s handy Silhouette Machine to print the vinyl letters and place on top of the glass.  They turned out beautifully for virtually no cost!

From there we started accessorizing with things that we loved, to give the room that romantic feel and a place that we call our sanctuary.

We finished with a few minor details to give the room that final touch.  The drawer knobs were on sale for half price at Hobby Lobby and the chains for the light were very inexpensive at Home Depot.  We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of our latest project and we welcome you to come back for more projects in the works.
