Your response to the Loft Bedroom was overwhelming!  I'm so glad that so many people were inspired by the space.  But there are some great things about the space that I haven't shared yet...so I'm going to remedy that situation starting today.

Since the loft bedroom is in the loft (unexpected, right?) we had to come up with a way to give the space some privacy.

I thought of simply using a

Last week I shared a few sneak peeks of how we updated our kitchen. If you recall, since we live in a rental, we can't change the cabinetry or the counter tops. But ever since I upholstered my bar stools, I have been itching to spruce up the rest of the kitchen as well.

And what is the easiest way to give a room a different feel? Why, paint of course! So, last week, we painted the back

It's no secret that we rent our home. I've mentioned it many times on the blog.  And I've also mentioned that our landlords have been very generous in allowing us to make changes like painting, "drawing" on the entry wall,  and even adding board and batten to the kid's bathroom.

Here is the laundry room (well, laundry closet) BEFORE:

Like I said, a hard-working little space.  But, how can we put this nicely?  A little, um, drab.

And here is

My three boys share a bedroom.  It has worked so far, but now that my oldest has started Jr. High school, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for him to share with his two little brothers.  The poor kid really needs a space of his own.  So what's a mom to do?  In this case, I am considering giving up my loft office space and turning it into a bedroom for Boy #1.  I'm campaigning for

This past Saturday, I was featured as the expert source in an interior design article in the Spaces section of the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News.  The piece focused on how to combine design styles in small spaces.   Although the article was aimed at those who might be sharing dorm rooms - it is back-to-school time after all - the ideas I shared are great tips for anyone living in a small
