I have always wanted to make one a vertical garden wall! Thanks to this guest post from Bridgman, I might be attempting this project this weekend! Enjoy!

Create your own vertical garden using a wooden shipping pallet.

If you love nothing more than exciting and innovative home projects, then creating a vertical garden is a fun and creative way of maximising growing space in your home. Made popular by Patrick Blanc, the famed French botanist, vertical gardening is increasingly being used on buildings across the world to bring greenery into urban spaces. However, you don’t have to build a vertical garden on a vast scale, and with only a wooden pallet, some plants, planting soil, and a few tools you can create your own unique garden wall at home.

This project is ideal if you’re short of space but still want to grow flowers and foliage. Succulents and herbs work wonderfully in a homemade vertical garden, as do many flowering plants such as petunias and lobelia. After only a few hours work and two weeks to allow the plants to settle, you can brighten up any wall in no time at all.

If you would like to create your own vertical garden at home, simply follow these simple instructions put together by Bridgman.

My husband is amazing. This is a known fact. He is the nicest, wholehearted, honest person I have ever met. This Christmas was just one example of his thoughtfulness. I have always wanted the lyrics to our first dance at our wedding to be displayed somewhere in our bedroom.  We danced to the song "Magic" by Colbie Caillat (listen to the song here). We have been married for 4 years now and I had yet to create something. This year for Christmas, my husband took that idea and gave me a huge surprise. He created this amazing sign that now hangs above our bed.

Now back to the sign....

Here are a few snapshots of the process (he captured these on his phone as he snuck away for a few hours each day to work on this amazing surprise)...

The pallet wine rack that we created a few months ago has been quite the sensation on Pinterest. It has been pinned over 43K times and was just featured on Dishfunctional Designs!

Purchase your very own at our Etsy store (if we are all out, please message me for a custom order)!

Eric (the hunter) has done it again! Using recycled pallets, he created his very own, custom gun cabinet! It is simply gorgeous. He was kind enough to share photos with me of the process and final product. We are not hunters at the Wilson house, but this is one gun cabinet that I would not mind having in my house!

Creative, custom, unique... love it! Thanks so much for sharing!

NOTE:  ***Before selecting your pallet, make sure that you are aware of how the pallet was treated in order to make sure it is safe for your house. All pallets should be marked with a code that lets you know how it has been treated.
-Heat treatment (HT) (SAFEST OPTION FOR USE IN YOUR HOME)-Methyl bromide fumigation (MB) -Chemical pressure impregnation (CPI)It is also very important to make sure that the pallet is free of insects. Make sure the wood is in good condition and does not splinter easy

Pallet furniture is more than just a phase right now, it's a creative outlet that is catching on like wildfire....and I love it! Our good friends, Melissa and Eric, have jumped on the bandwagon and they have made some amazing things! I asked them to take some photos of their projects so that I could show off my creative friends!

Pallet Coat Rack: Right when you walk in their door, this adorable coat rack (that looks like it's straight from Pottery Barn) hangs on their wall.  The dark wood stain and brushed bronze hooks are functional and unique!

Pallet Box: I am still in such amazement over this box. They used wood from an old pallet to create this rustic storage box. I absolutely love the shape and color of it. The slits on the side add character and functionality. This is one of my favorite projects from one of my favorite materials!

Thanks for sharing your creative work, Melissa and Eric!
