Wishing you all a sweet Valentine's day. Truth be told, I've never been a fan of Valentine's day, but through my daughters and our new life in America, I discovered that Valentine's day is not only a lovers' day, it's also the day to show the ones that matter to you that you care about them. My daughters make special gifts for their bff's* or teachers. I like this new tradition. So happy Valentine's day my dear, because I truly care about you and you mean a lot to me. Hugs, Si-

Joyeuse Saint Valentin! Si-

Happy 2013 y'all!! I thought it fitting for my first post in the new year to be about bubbly packaging. Here's a collection of champagne packaging design by various studios.

Each Origami Wine Tote comes with a to/from tag so it needs no wrapping to make a great presentation.”  See more at Notcot.

I'm still off for a few more days, but wanted to stop by and wish you a happy new year my dear! My only wish for 2013, even if it sounds really cheesy, is a wish of peace, whether between people, countries, or within myself. At peace with my decisions, because when you know who you are and what really and truly matters, making up your mind on something is natural and easy. At peace with my body, and not hurting it with ridiculous diets because it never works and only hurt it. No, this year, I will cherish my body, I will push it to its limits by exercising hard and feeding it with healthy food. At peace with the ones I love or have loved but lost touch with because of distance or because of senseless arguments. At peace with my mind and body. Happy new year to you! May 2013 bring you everything you're wishing for. Xo, Si-

Si-

I'm a pretty traditional kind of girl, so when it comes to the holidays we have our
family customs just as any family does, and that, of course, includes Christmas
baking. I seem to bake the same types of cookies every year, family favorites,
things my mother baked every year that I now try to duplicate.

Something funny happened this year though. After rolling out ball after ball of
cut-out dough, I realized that ALL of the cut-outs I baked were stars. Every
cookie cutter that I used was the same shape: a star!  Yay for stars!

Ready to go into the oven!

Ready to eat!

What did you bake this year?

My sweet readers,
I'm taking some time off the blog and the e-shop to recharge my batteries and come back all inspired again. Getting away from the computer is going to be very hard, but like any "detox" cleansing, it's sometimes necessary. I wish you a wonderful and merry Christmas. Thank you, dear readers, for the wonderful gift you give me every day of the year by stopping by this blog. Thank you, dear sponsors, for your support and for believing in my work. See you all again soon!
Joyeux Noel!

Ok, so I've avoided all things Christmas this month simply because it hasn't felt like Christmas to me yet. Maybe because I'm not going to shopping malls and don't have kids yet. It really is a more festive season when you have kids (or are a kid). But here's a selections of Christmas card illustrations for good measure, from Webneel.

This year, stars have taken over the decor scene. They are everywhere, especially right now, around the holiday season. There are so many alternatives out there. Stars add a sparkle to any holiday interior but they are not limited to the holiday season and can be used year-round around the house, thanks so shops such as Le RepèRe des BeletTes that offers a variety of stars on their website - and they deliver all over the world, hooray! - so your interior can sparkle all year round!

I wanted to create a quick and easy festive wreath. I picked up a straw wreath form, yarn and some felt from Hobby Lobby. I simply wrapped the wreath with the yarn, and then cut out leaves from felt to make the poinsettia.  It was quick and easy and I made it while watching Homeland. I think it took me longer than usual because I found my self in a TV trance and not wrapping and watching instead.

I had some leftover ribbon, so I used that to make something for the wreath to hang from. Then I added a leftover sticker to the middle of the flower.  This entire project cost $5. Not too shabby.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Megan

Oh, dear weekend, there you are! My plans for us is to chill out, finish wrapping some presents and listen to holiday music while sipping hot cocoa... Weekend, i really heart you! Xo, Si

Si-

When Belgian photographer Sven Everaert sent me these pics of his own DIY christmas tree, I immediately knew I had to share these with you. Styled by his wife, Evelien Vanherck - who's a journalist/stylist for European magazines such as Vårt Nya Hem or Casa da Abitare - this Xmas tree idea is another great example that you don't need to splurge to get a "va-va'voum" effect. I love the color, the unexpected "upside down" effect, and the simplicity of the idea. Merci Sven and Evelien and joyeux Noël!

I've been trying to compile some easy and inexpensive gift ideas this year. I know someone that enjoys tea, so I thought I would create some Chai Tea Mix for them.  I have shared the recipe I used below. I picked up a cute little container that they can reuse after using the mix for three dollars at Marshalls.  Then I added a tag with instructions and a ribbon to give it a little holiday spirit.

Here is the chai tea recipe that I used to create the mix:

1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup powdered non dairy creamer
1 cup French vanilla flavored powdered non dairy creamer
2.5 cups of white sugar
1.5 cups of unsweetened instant tea
2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground cardamom

Blend ingredients together in a food processor or blender to combine, and then serve by adding two tablespoons of the dry mix to a mug of hot water or milk.

Not bad for a four dollar gift! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Megan
